The Smartlipo Laser Liposuction
Procedure in New Orleans, LA
In February 2007, the Smartlipo laser was approved by the FDA, revolutionizing the art of body sculpting. Smartlipo laser liposculpture is a minimally invasive office procedure which removes unwanted fat resistant to diet and exercise, smoothes cellulite, and tightens skin laxity.*
The Smartlipo procedure is performed under local anesthesia, requires only a short recovery time, and gives a contoured and lasting result.* It is recommended that a one-to-two-day post procedure recuperation time is taken before the patient returns to work, and normal activities are gradually resumed.
The most popular areas treated by Smartlipo in women of all ages are abdominal pooches, loose neck skin and jowls, saddle bags, and "muffin tops." For hard-bodied men of yesteryear whose "cut" physiques have morphed into love handles, spare tires, and flabby chests, Smartlipo's combination of laser plus liposuction addresses both the need for excess fat removal and skin tightening for a natural, lasting result.
The Smartlipo laser utilizes fiber optic technology to melt fat and tighten overlying skin.* The procedure begins with the administration of medications to relieve pain and anxiety as well as local anesthesia, which is dispensed through a tube inserted through a tiny needle prick with minimal discomfort to the patient. The treated area becomes numb within one minute. After the anesthesia cannula is withdrawn and a small tube enclosing the Nd:YAG laser is inserted, the Smartlipo's thermal energy gently melts fat cells on contact. The Smartlipo laser also creates multiple tunnels underneath the skin, severs lax mattress string-like fibers (which are the primary cause of cellulite), and heats the overlying skin which stimulates it to contract. The Smartlipo laser is then removed, and a tiny tube is inserted to “wet vac” the liquefied fat cells from the body. Since fat cells never regenerate in adults, the physique contouring by Smartlipo laser liposculpture is lasting.* Even if a patient gains weight after Smartlipo, it will not be deposited in those previous stubborn areas but will be more evenly distributed throughout the rest of the body.
