Dysport vs. Botox

Wrinkles and fine lines are something we have to cope with as we age. There are two major treatments used to improve the overall appearance of wrinkles--Botox and Dysport. Both are types of botulinum toxin (neuromodulators) injections and are known for the treatment and prevention of wrinkles. Both Botox and Dysport are safe for those who qualify for these types of treatments. These neuromodulators are convenient because they are in-office treatments with no recovery time needed. Once the treatment is complete, you are free to leave and proceed with your day as usual.

These noninvasive injections help reduce the appearance of wrinkles by relaxing the muscles beneath the skin. By doing this, the skin appears smoother. While both Dysport and Botox have similar active ingredients, the protein amounts vary, making one more effective for some people. For some, the smoothing effect of Dysport may appear sooner, but Botox can potentially last longer. Either way, you will need follow-up injections to maintain your desired results.

With Dysport, you may start to see results within a couple of days which typically last between three to four months. Whereas with Botox, it may take up to a week before you notice any results. The results for Botox can sometimes last up to six months.
